Thank you for your interest! This could be the beginning of an exciting journey for both of us. We are actively looking for undergraduate and graduate students to join my group or work on research projects. Before we proceed, there are a few important things that I would like you to know. When you reach out via email, please make sure to include the following three pieces of information.
I would like you to describe the research projects you are interested in and provide an outline of your research plan or any relevant research experience you may have. It would be great to understand how our research interests align or overlap. Don't worry if you don't have extensive research experience or if your background is in a different discipline. I enjoy working with students from diverse backgrounds. However, I want to ensure that you have a basic understanding of my research before you decide to contact me. You can find details about my ongoing research projects on the Research and Publications page.
Please attach your CV and any writing samples such as your thesis, research papers, technical or project reports, etc. Additionally, if you have any research products like presentations, a GitHub page, interface designs, systems, or any other relevant materials, feel free to share them. These pieces of information will help me gain a better understanding of your background and enable me to match you with active research opportunities.
Please explain how you envision conducting research with me. What do you expect to take away from this collaboration? Are you seeking a thesis advisor or committee member? Are you looking to gain research experience or technical skills through projects? Or are you interested in an RA/TA position? I have found that starting with small projects and gradually progressing to more committed RA/GA is an effective way to initiate collaboration.
I am eagerly looking forward to discussing further with you!
